CONSUMPTION BY WIPING CARD ON POS
Application Range
Merchants with CUP labels all accept CUP cards. Some merchants may not have put up the CUP label, so cardholders can inquire the cashier whether CUP cards are accepted.
Merchant Characteristics
Currently, CUP’s promissory merchants in Japan have exceeded ten thousand in number. These are mainly group-shopping stores for electrical equipments, airport dutyfree stores and large chain stores, such as the Akiba electric apparatus street, department stores in Ginza and Shinjiuku in Tokyo, department stores in Umeda and Shinsaibashi in Osaka, as well as dutyfree stores in all major airports around Japan.
Accepted Cards
Bank cards with the CUP label, including dual currency cards.
Reminder: When using dual currency cards, cardholders are recommended to ask the cashier to choose CUP network, so as to assure the enjoyment of various favorable treatments and services provided by CUP network. As certain amounts of limits exist for credit card consumption, CUP debit cards are more suitable for large consumption on luxuries, as they are subjected only to the limit of balance account of the cards.
Relevant Charges
No commission charge for overseas card-using.
When consuming through CUP network, the currency exchange charge of 1%-2% will be exempted. CUP will change the amount in local currency into RMB amount to deduct from the holder’s RMB account.
ATM CASH WITHDRAWAL
Application Range
Currently several ten thousand ATMs of Japan Post Bank, BTMU (formerly known as UFJ Bank) , SEVEN Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Bank (staffed points) and AEON Credit Service accept cash withdrawal in Japanese yens with CUP cards.
Japan Post Bank’s ATMs do not support the balance inquiry function.CUP cards cannot perform over-counter transfer and cash withdrawal abroad.
Accepted Cards
Domestically issued dual currency cards cannot use CUP network on ATMs of Japan Post Bank and SEVEN Bank. Other ATMs accept bank cards with CUP labels including dual currency cards.
Reminder: Cardholders are recommended to use CUP debit cards abroad since overdraft interest will be charged when drawing cash with credit cards.

Chinese Interface
Chinese interface is provided on ATMs of BTMU (formerly known as UFJ Bank) , SEVEN Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Bank (staffed points) and AEON Credit Service.
Cash Withdrawal Procedure
Same as in China, namely cash given before card returned.

Charge and Limit on Withdrawal
Daily cash withdrawal from a card should not surpass the Japanese yen equivalent of 10 thousand RMB (around 70 thousand yens according to current exchange rate). Please inquire the issuing bank for information concerning limits on daily cash withdrawal times and amount, as well as the commission. Apart from commissions charged by domestic banks, some ATM organizations in Japan may charge additional fees of 75-110 yens. Nevertheless, cash withdrawal on AEON Credit Service does not charge additional commission.
